Thanks Jay for counting me in on your wonderfully creative writes which turn into great reads. Been a long time.

I just finished a record with Michael Omartian. I've grown to appreciate the art of listening. It's a garden unto itself that can yield a satisfying crop if you're willing to...

Blessings to you my friend. Keep it up and keep 'em comin'.

Well done. I write down notes for songs but I don't often use them. I just let my muse take control most of the time, unless I want to write about something specific. Then I go to my toolbox if I need it.

Does that make A&R the fly swatter? Loved it. Captions were on point, by the way.

Crop duster? (And thanks. You know me well enough to know the captions were the part I was most pleased with myself with.)

Jay, you are a joy, my friend. A little backstory on "I Can't Make You Love Me". I was writing with Allen quite a bit in those early days. He was writing with Mike once a week. He told me how he had that hook and took it in to Mike. They started writing it bluegrass. When Allen came back the next week, Mike had changed the entire musical structure to what Bonnie ended up recording, to the great benefit of all mankind. But Allen's hook actually had an entire backstory itself. He had read an article in the morning paper (remember those?), a special interest story about a homeless man. The reporter asked the guy how he wound up homeless and he said it all started when his wife divorced him. They quoted him saying something like "I just can't make her love me if she don't".

Thanks! Though I think I’ve gained ten pounds since I posted that one. Now ALL my co-writers want to go to lunch.

There seems to be a post-mordernist spelling of the word “whoa.” Searching it out (googling) I see that woah is sort of a Great Britainish spelling. Black Rob had a song called Whoa! The cowboys, when trying to stop their horses in old movies, definitely said “Whoa!”

I vote for whoa, that wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

You are correct. Therefore I stand, corrected. We’ll have it fixed for the print edition.
